Warm Up Before Exercise
Warm Up Before Exercise
People take up exercise for various reasons like building strength and increase muscle mass and also loose weight. It is important to begin all exercises with a short warm-up session.
The body undergoes a lot of stress and strain during exercise. A warm up session before an exercise program will help in blood circulation, which is essential during an exercise routine. A tem minute warm up will loosen the tensed muscle and prevent a muscle tear or any serious injury.
No static stretching. Getting into and holding a stretch has been shown to fatigue the muscle and even leave it more susceptible to injury. Not only that but such stretching does little to prepare the muscle for the activity that is soon to come.
Use movements that mimic your future activity. Running on a treadmill is a great way to warm up……..for running on a treadmill. Push ups are a great way to warm up for pushups and bench press and body weight squats are a great way to warm up for weighted squats.
Ease into your movements. Start off with an easy tempo, and easy weight and an easy rhythm. The whole purpose of a warm up is to gently prepare the body for activity. There is no point to slamming the body hard into high intensity. That will simply fatigue you and have two strikes against you from the start.
Be patient. Some days are easier than others. If you are not ready to go after a few minutes, that’s fine. Simply keep the pace light and let yourself get ready at a natural pace. Whatever you do, don’t force a warm up.
Ramp up the intensity gradually. Doing 15 pushups doesn’t mean you can just jump right to your maximum weight. Bring up the intensity in steps to let your body and mind acclimate to the work load.
